When I learned about “Dronescapes: The New Aerial Photography,” I realized just how ubiquitous drone based aerial photography has become. Dronescapes: The New Aerial Photography is a coffee table book filled with, you guessed it, drone based aerial photographs. (If you’d like your very own copy, you can purchase it at Amazon new for just under $24 dollars.) This really feels like aerial photography has reached some sort of critical mass.
Drones have proven to be boons for the world of art, and ‘Dronescapes: The New Aerial Photography‘ is a book that highlights some of the best examples of drone photography from around the world. The book includes 250 images that were collected as part of a collaboration between drone photography website ‘Dronestagram’ and photography editor Ayperi Karabuda Ecer.
Part of the appeal of drone photography is that it democratizes angles. In the past, taking a high-quality overhead picture required a serious budget for things like helicopters or cranes. With drones, even amateurs can take awe-inspiring photos with hardware that costs only a few hundred dollars.
Images in Dronescapes include a shot looking directly down at Rio de Janeiro’s famous ‘Christ the Redeemer’ statue and a view through one of the gaps in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge’s supports.
